Had a conversation with Bubu and Nicolensm the other day about Ang Pow design and I realized the last time I did one was actually during my college day as a project assignment. And since I had nothing better to do for the day, I fire up my Photoshop and did a quick Ang Pow design. So here it is! Taa-daa! Happy Chinese New Year people! May the Year of Horse brings you plenty of prosperity and good fortune!

Yah, I kinda skipped using the horse imagery as I find it rather over-rated. Instead, I focuses on the arrival of Spring (春) and Good Fortune/Happiness (福) with blossoming petals and gold leaves for good luck :D

CNY Blossoms

20 December 2013

For weeks, I have contemplated whether or not to apply for a Sr. Visual Designer role at a local telecommunication corporation. Just when I decided to hit that "APPLY BUTTON", it says the dateline is over. Just great. I missed out on an opportunity... or could it be a sign?

Out of the blue, something else caught my attention. Hmm, a Brand Manager (Art Director role) for an Airline. Something closer to what I have in mind. I guess I could give it a try. Off I sent my resume - I'll just have to wait for a reply (that is, if I get shortlisted). Then comes a phone call from a recruitment company asking if I'm interested to give it a go as a Sr. Art Director role at media agency.

And then ANOTHER phone call from my previous Creative Director asking if there's any chance I'd like to consider continuing my previous position. And on top of that, an ex-digital producer who is also from the same company (now, gone solo) also asked me the same. Hmm.. looks like I'm stuck in between. Both have its pros and cons. The easier way out is really to just be a freelancer...

Now that it has come to the end of December and CNY around the next corner, I thought I would postpone my job hunting (the heck..) and then, pops a Facebook message - an ex-colleague suggests I try out at his agency. Expanding the digital team he said. Hahhaha great! I guess somebody up there doesn't want to let me quit.

So much opportunities. Good jobs, lousy jobs.. it is still a job. Now who says getting a job in Malaysia is difficult?

Moth a little notes

I think I suck at updating CV.

I can spend my whole day working with Photoshop or Illustrator and having no complaints but when it comes to updating my CV, writing about my past employment history etc, I start having mild panic attack.

I guess I DO MIND using proper grammar for all formal documents. Sadly, I am not very good at it. It is so mind-boggling. The constant typing, deleting, typing again, deleting again process is tiring and seems never ending.

Bugger...

Today is the Doctor's examination day. It is like the SPM/STPM examination day where trainee doctors are tested for the first time to see how well they communicate with the patients and understand their diagnosis. Accuracy of patient's detail is vital and they (the trainee doctors) are rated based on the core understanding of the patient's medical history, complications, family background and social concerns.

Each department has 1 long case, and 3 short cases. I was one of the long case studies. My very first time in the hospital as a case study. Very briefly, I was interviewed by 2 doctors.

They are pretty lucky they got me as their case study, because as a responsible 'patient', I did my homework - I remembered all events in chronological order making it easier for them to trace my medical history, I remembered all the name of medications I've had, taken, allergic to and taking, I remembered all the minute details like complications and side effects.

The first doctor seems to be pretty decent. Perhaps a little too decent. The second, on the other hand is over-confident, very controlling when asking questions. Talk about the differences between an introvert and extrovert! Overall, both did a great job within the allocated time (45 minutes for each doctor)....well... except they both DID CHEATED a little,  ie. asking me for spellings, borrowing my iPhone to use the calculator, asking me for definition of an abbreviation.

The result? The first doctor nailed it 100%. The second, well, he didn't ask me about my social concerns like financial burden and my working experience so he was quite upset when being questioned by his senior doctors/professors. Hoo hooo hooo...

I got paid RM100 for this - for sitting/lying down on a bed for 5 hours with breakfast/lunch provided and talking to doctors. A pretty good experience for me, I'd say.

How often do you forget names? Or remembering the names but not the face?

I do... ALOT! And that wasn't funny at all (well, not exactly a big deal either but ...you know what I mean). Just today I was out with a bunch of ex-colleagues over lunch and we were randomly talking about the 'good ol' days' and the people we used to work around with.

We started talking about this person 'Alvin W." , a project manager that we used to work with. And it got me thinking for a blardy good 15 minutes figuring out who the hell he was - I had to go through his Facebook profile and search for his profile photo and then my super-blocked brain cells FINALLY open up and everything flushes through my mind. And then the list goes on....  the Pakistani dude (forgot his name), the Indian Bollywood guy (forgot his name), and the programmer (forgot his FACE) etc. etc..

GOSH! Only 2 years and I completely erased them out from my mind. Is that how fast we can forget someone?

Scary....

My brain, the size of a pea

27 April 2011

After eight months of MIA at the gym, yours truly is back to the training scene. Although friends of mine were saying how they'd like me slim; like now; instead of bulky (claiming my head is smaller than my body when I am bulky), I still feel a need to work out those muscles again... In a way, I feel sorry for my abs, biceps, and chest, how very mistreated. THAT, and I really need to start exercising again for health wise - you know what they say about when you reach the big 3-0, your body tends to be weaker et al....

RUBBISH!

The correct way of saying it should be, when you reach 30, your body IS weak. There's absolutely no denying it .. because.. *drum rolls* , yours truly just experienced the biggest humiliation and utterly embarrassing moment of his life LOL , so bad I feel ashamed of myself asking for MC for the day hurhurhur..

2 days of gym workout and 1 bad sleeping position (stiff neck) is all it takes to get me immobilized. My body was aching so badly, I can't turn sideways. There's no way I can lie down on bed in a comfortable position nor waking up from the bed without feeling my nerves twitching. ITS BLOODY PAINFUL and my arms were weak (like how you felt when you bumped the funny bone)

MAN... I say, this is not good. Applying for day off when I'm technically not really sick, sick.. but I really have to, cuz I can't even do a text message much less controlling the mouse and moving it around Photoshop and Flash.. I can die on the spot if I did :p

Moth : "Hi [Operations Manager], you see.. my body was aching from my (much long-awaited) gym workout, and I need to take the day off" - that sounds silly already.  - F.A.I.L -

1.5 months till 3-0.. TIGA PULUH! *freaks out*

A liberal person who practices dictatorship and rejects democracy altogether
What do you call a man like this? Here in our ugly-looking-work-environment (as he puts it), we called it our new LEADER :D

Yippeee!

I can't wait to see what's in store for us *highly anticipated* ... oh JOY!
Can't wait to see where he'll bring the team towards..
Can't wait to see where he'll bring the company upon...

Can't wait to see his expression when he finds out everyone thinks...

He's just an old fart! Tee hee hee...

Yah.. I am being sarcastic. Too much pressure these days. So sue me. BLEK!

12 May 2009

FINALLY.. the confirmation letter from the HR this morning. I was supposed to sign and return it on the spot. (wtf?) HR looked at me, quietly informing me of the 'slight' increment that my boss instructed *pointing at the sum written on the letter*

"You've talked about the figure with your boss, right?", she asked.

Technically speaking, YES my boss did inform me of the increment - BUT.. in which, I did not agree to anything. I remember telling him, I'll speak to him (re: issues / new company structure / the salary) once I receive the confirmation letter. NOW, the weird part is, I haven't sign anything but looking at last month's payslip, the salary part has already been tuned (increased) - is this normal OR the company isn't giving me much chance to consider/negotiate?
