Was at Burger King the other day and this caught my attention..

I wonder who did the translation. How on earth is "INGAT" = "THINK" ... and 'keep Lock Always' is just classic! Does that mean I have to carry and keep a lock in my pocket all the time?  I also like how they keep the 'k' from 'keep' as lowercase while 'L' and 'A' from 'Lock Always' get the uppercase treatment. LOL it made it sound like I have to keep a person named  'Lock Always'..

Burger King, you are just so so cute..

How do you guys pronounce 'Pistachio'?

I always thought it is pronounced as 'Pees-ta-CHEE-oh' ... until Natalie Tran proved me wrong in her latest video as 'Pees-ta-KEY-oh'. So I google up the word and 'OMGWTFBBQ! it IS pronounced as 'KEY-oh' .... I've gotten it wrong all these years. Eeeks, so embarassing..

But it does make ALOT of sense now reading it as 'Pees-ta-KEY-oh'. Just like macchiato - 'ma-KEY-ah-toe'. Italians..... LOL

And then today, I read a post on FB and apparently 'hiccup' isn't really spelled that way. It is 'hiccough' but the '-ough' pronounced as 'up'. Funny Funny English.. According to wiki, '-ough' has up to TEN(10) pronunciations.

/ʌf/ enough, hough, rough, slough, tough

/ɒf~ɔːf/ cough, trough
/aʊ/ bough, drought, plough
/oʊ/ dough, furlough, though
/ɔː/ bought, brought, ought, sought, thought, wrought
/uː/ brougham, slough, through
/ə/ borough, thorough
/ʌp/ hiccough
/ɒk/ hough
/ɒx/ lough

And to think we use these words everyday... I didn't even realized they are all read differently.

What I experienced:
  • iTunes kept cancelling my iPhone Wi-Fi sync
  • iTunes couldn't detect my iPhone over USB cable
  • iPhone kept asking me to 'trust' my computer
What I did:
  •  Re-installed iTunes
What happened next:
  • iPhone no longer asking me to 'trust' my computer
  • iTunes finally detected my iPhone over USB cable
  • iTunes continue to cancel my iPhone sync (both Wi-Fi and USB sync)
What I did:
  • Sync new songs 1 at a time and see which causes the problem
What happened next:
  • As predicted, 1 of the new songs seem to be the problem
What I did:
  • Removed the Album Artwork from the faulty song file
What finally happened:
  • Finally got to sync all new songs

iTunes. I didn't know you have preferences over album artwork.

School mates, college mates, ex-colleagues, close friends - they will all make a sudden appearance during Chinese New Year. I haven't seen most of them since the Jurassic period and now everyone wants to meet up. So far my calendar for the remaining of January seems pretty occupied with lunch, dinner, lou-sang sessions, tea and what not gatherings. While catching up with friends may be something refreshing and something I should be excited about, it is perhaps a little too much at one go - my wallet is running low on cash fuel. My, oh my ... it pays (so much) to catch up with buddies these days! We should just meet up more often next time. No more Annual Friendship Anniversary day please....

Samsung, oh Samsung..

First you say all I need to do is a factory reset. Then you tell me it is a software problem that requires a software update. Yesterday you said it could be a faulty motherboard. So I let you replaced the mutha-fuckin-board.

Still, I woke up this morning to encounter the same exact issue.

( System not responding...)
( Reboot ) x loop

So what now? I have opted for an exchange since my first visit to the Samsung Service Service (first week of purchase) but you kept giving me bullshit suggestions which kept failing. Now, you are telling me I have long past the warranty period (into the 3rd week of purchase) and you do not guarantee me a unit exchange.

Samsung, oh Samsung..

That is the total bill from mom's recent body check-up. She was admitted 3 days 2 nights to the Sunway Medical Center - did an MRI, a minor lipoma (body fat) removal surgery, an OGDS, a colonoscopy, blood test for liver function, kidney function, blood sugar, cholesterol level and etc.

RM11,000.00 - that is equivalent to 2,444 plates of chicken rice (assuming it is RM4.50 per plate). How can any commoner afford to pay this figure without a medical card? Like OUCH?! Hospital bills are spiking crazy. Or maybe it is their way to squeeze money from insurance company....could it, hmm...

By the way, mom's doing great. Her medical report is way better than mine. ^^

Moth a little notes
------------------------------------------------------------

I think I suck at updating CV.

I can spend my whole day working with Photoshop or Illustrator and having no complaints but when it comes to updating my CV, writing about my past employment history etc, I start having mild panic attack.

I guess I DO MIND using proper grammar for all formal documents. Sadly, I am not very good at it. It is so mind-boggling. The constant typing, deleting, typing again, deleting again process is tiring and seems never ending.

Bugger...

Today is the Doctor's examination day. It is like the SPM/STPM examination day where trainee doctors are tested for the first time to see how well they communicate with the patients and understand their diagnosis. Accuracy of patient's detail is vital and they (the trainee doctors) are rated based on the core understanding of the patient's medical history, complications, family background and social concerns.

Each department has 1 long case, and 3 short cases. I was one of the long case studies. My very first time in the hospital as a case study. Very briefly, I was interviewed by 2 doctors.

They are pretty lucky they got me as their case study, because as a responsible 'patient', I did my homework - I remembered all events in chronological order making it easier for them to trace my medical history, I remembered all the name of medications I've had, taken, allergic to and taking, I remembered all the minute details like complications and side effects.

The first doctor seems to be pretty decent. Perhaps a little too decent. The second, on the other hand is over-confident, very controlling when asking questions. Talk about the differences between an introvert and extrovert! Overall, both did a great job within the allocated time (45 minutes for each doctor)....well... except they both DID CHEATED a little,  ie. asking me for spellings, borrowing my iPhone to use the calculator, asking me for definition of an abbreviation.

The result? The first doctor nailed it 100%. The second, well, he didn't ask me about my social concerns like financial burden and my working experience so he was quite upset when being questioned by his senior doctors/professors. Hoo hooo hooo...

I got paid RM100 for this - for sitting/lying down on a bed for 5 hours with breakfast/lunch provided and talking to doctors. A pretty good experience for me, I'd say.

How often do you forget names? Or remembering the names but not the face?

I do... ALOT! And that wasn't funny at all (well, not exactly a big deal either but ...you know what I mean). Just today I was out with a bunch of ex-colleagues over lunch and we were randomly talking about the 'good ol' days' and the people we used to work around with.

We started talking about this person 'Alvin W." , a project manager that we used to work with. And it got me thinking for a blardy good 15 minutes figuring out who the hell he was - I had to go through his Facebook profile and search for his profile photo and then my super-blocked brain cells FINALLY open up and everything flushes through my mind. And then the list goes on....  the Pakistani dude (forgot his name), the Indian Bollywood guy (forgot his name), and the programmer (forgot his FACE) etc. etc..

GOSH! Only 2 years and I completely erased them out from my mind. Is that how fast we can forget someone?

Scary....

My brain, the size of a pea

29 September 2013

With plenty of time to spare these days, I re-watched some of the animes and cartoons during my childhood period. What I didn't know about was:

DRAGON BALL
  • Gohan and Videl married and had a daughter called Pan.
  • Pan had a grandson called Goku Jr.
  • Trunks got his sword from his idol, a legendary hero alien.
  • Trunks have a younger sister called Bulla.
  • Buu and Mr. Satan  became best friends.
  • Vegeta can be so silly.
  • Vegeta has a younger brother called Tarble.
  • Goku and Vegeta can fused together and become Gogeta / Veku (failed version).
  • Six(6) good hearted Saiyans can combined together to become One(1) Super Saiyan God.
  • Goku in his Super Saiyan God form may not be even beat God of Destruction, Bills.
  • Even Shenrong is intimidated by the presence of the God of Destruction, Bills.
DORAEMON
  • Doraemon was originally yellow with ears but destroyed by a malfunction robotic mouse.
  • Dorameon's blue color was the result of over-crying (yellow paint faded off).
  • Much like Nobita, Doraemon was originally quite a useless robot who fails in all things.
  • Doraemon's original master is Nobita's great grandson in the future.
SAINT SEIYA
  • Mu was the one who helped Shaka brought back Ikki during the 12 temple war.
  • Shun was portrayed as terribly weak across all Saint Seiya Movies.
  • Masami Kurumada created 3 fighers of the (almost) same constellation - namely Lyra Orphee (Hades), Lyra Orpheus (Movie),  Mime Benetnasch (Asgard).
  • In Saint Seiya: Legend of Crimson Youth, the God of Light is Abel, not Apollo as mistakenly translated in Chinese subtitles.
  • Apollo appeared in the final Saint Seiya Movie, Saint Seiya: TenKaiHen Josou Overture.
  • In Next Dimension, Shaina found an old Ophiuchus (Gold Saint?) temple.
  • In Omega, Shiryu (the new Libra Saint) has a son called Ryuho (the new Dragon Saint).
  • In Omega, Shun became a healer.
That's alot I didn't know. Animes (and Mangas too) are amazing! Everytime I re-watched the episodes, I'm bound to find something new. And then suddenly, everything made sense. Wow.. the effort the creators, producers and publishers put together and compiled into is marvelous. Thank you for all the wonderful time and entertainment.

Japanese Title: 半澤直樹
Romaji Equivalent Title: Hanzawa Naoki

It was everywhere. I heard about this J-drama all over TV channels on Astro. The Taiwanese channel was talking about it, the Hong Kong channel was talking about it. There was a great hoo-haa going on about this 10-episode latest J-drama claiming it has 54% rating in Japan, meaning half the population in Japan was watching this drama (specifically the finale). And the trailer does look good, in fact, quite fascinating it got my attention immediately. Alot of kneeling downs, beggings, shoutings what not.

Not gonna explain much about the story. You can read it up here. Basically, politics in the banking industry. It has been awhile since I feel so attached to J-drama and what's really good about this drama is the fact that it points out the way the actual employment world is - where employers take all the credits, employees take all the blames and situations where employees.. more often that not, says 'yes' to everything he/she was asked to perform/do by immediate bosses/superiors which, EVERY single employee in the world can relate to - which was bad. It's about time employers listen and take a 'no' for a change (if it does make sense).

This drama does make you wanna stop, take a step back and start looking at your job in a different perspective - one that does justice to the company and your customers. Gotta love the main character (the guy on the upper left corner) - so insanely smart, brave, outspoken and attentive - a real elite in the banking industry ; if only I canz be as smartz... XD

I highly recommend this J-drama if you ran out of anything else to watch. Forget TVB series.. getting real hopeless these days *shakes head*

STRAIGHT ACT

Just what exactly does "Straight Act" means? Of course I understand what the term meant in the fabulous world of gaytopia and what it is the muscle hunks and jocks are trying to say - of masculine, manly, heterosexual-looking.

But doesn't "Straight Act" also goes to mean you are acting what you are not? That you are acting to be straight; which in another way of saying is - you are merely faking to be real masculine, manly, heterosexual-looking. WHICH in yet another way of saying means you are just as sissy, as girly, as feminine, as flamboyant, calculative and see a hallway like a fashion runway as any other homosexual men and/or women but you are *smirk* ....hiding it.

Not that I have any issues with it. I just find it peculiar that (almost) everyone on Grindr is writing that on their profile section. OR maybe it is weird to have a six pack abs profile pic and saying you are fairy-like which restrained them from being awesome....could it?

I mean I'm sure everyone in the world now should know that not all gay people are soft and feminine - there are famous gay hunks / actors / sportsmen / politicians who is all manly enough to kill a pride of lions, so there really isn't a need to specifically mention that you are "Straight Act". Like duhhh.. the more you use the term the more it sounds like you are just a f*cking jerk that doesn't respect your own thyself.

You are who you are. I can respect you not coming out of the closet, but at least respect your very own personality. C'mon... *roll eyes*.... "Straight Act" ? No part of your body is straight yo!

Again, its not like I care much, but ... just saying. LOL

Haaaa.. another monster in my bedroom. First it is the Rascals - Notti-chan and Wiked-san, then Domo-kun and now it is this .. hmm... rainbow monkey-looking long leg long hand creature (a birthday present from Ayami). My bedroom is slowly filled up with monsters. I hope it doesn't give me nightmares. And aside from these, there's a giant Octopus and a Chocobo in the car. Makes me think how come there's no cute cuddly bears or anything of the norm. I seem to attract and be attracted to monster huggables. What gives?

Smartphones oh smartphones, why are you such a nuisance? So mom wanted a new mobile phone to show off. Apparently all her friends had switched to smartphones and she has telling me how awesome photos taken from their phone's camera function are - whereas her current phone can do nothing except for calling / sms-ing and Quadrapop-ing

And so, I brought her to Blue Cube and wanting to show her how amazing these smart phones can be. Since everyone in my family is a committed iPhone user, I went on persuading her to get an iPhone 5. Not an easy task. Apparently she has been longing for Samsung Galaxy S4 - claiming that all her friends are using the said model and it would be easier for her to carry it around and have her friends teach her to use it - just in case.

Well, I can't exactly force her into liking iPhone right? She has got some points right about S4 - larger screen, larger screen and much larger screen.... iPhone is SO slim, SO small.

Anyway Blue Cube ran out of stock for the S4 and all we could do is put our names on the waiting list. Still, on the way home, I can't help but think... why not an iPhone 5? I need someone to convince me that S4 is better for old folks. Like ... how??

Unbelievably hours later, no more convincing is needed. I changed my mind. I realized no matter what - getting an S4 would be a wiser decision. Simple reason - I don't want my mom coming back home everyday after her outing and start asking me why people's phone (S4) can do this do that, how come hers (iPhone 5) cannot, why her phone so lousy... etc.

I would lose more blood answering to those. Getting the same phone model as her friend would be an easier way out. So yep, Galaxy S4 it is.

*Sigh*  Smartphones....
But why not an iPhone 5?

05 August 2013

I haven't been seeing most of my friends lately. Either they are really busy with work.. or they are just plain lazy to hang out these days. OR it could be because most of them are married now with kids - and presumably busy taking care of the young ones. SIGH. Having said that, I have been seeing a lot of baby photos up on the Facebook lately.

A-L-O-T of em'. Everyday. First thing that loads up on my FB page ...

On an exaggerated scale:

Nicolensm puts up photos of her daughter every MINUTE.
CYen puts up photos of her daughter every HALF AN HOUR.
My cousin from Taiwan puts up photos of her boy and girl every HOUR.
My cousin from KL puts up photos of her son every DAY.
Bliss82 puts up photos of her daughter every WEEK.

... and there's always a pic of a newborn every SECOND.
... and people announcing they are getting married every HALF A SECOND.

And all of them are growing as fast as the giant beanstalk. No kidding. Entah-lah minum susu apa.. Time flies. I still remember holding (some of) them in my arms (c'mon last year onni) and now, they can already walk/run/sprint/dance/murmur/write/draw! Ama-zing.

Sometimes I get their names wrong in my head. I would mistaken, say... KayKay for Anya, Anya for KayKay that kinda shit. AND *pffft* I always, ALWAYS have to make sure I get the name right in my head before my call out to them. Can you imagine looking at the sweet innocent face of the baby girl/boy only to call out the wrong name? The parents would be devastated, and I would have to quickly find a hole to hide my face.

Just saying.

21 April 2011

Surprised?  .. well I am, myself.

Never thought I'd want to blog again. But seeing all these posts and comments disappear as if it's no longer part of my life makes me feel bad. I used to like this blog of mine alot. And I truly appreciate all the comments from my friends - you know who you are - which is why I reverted to the previous template I guess. I checked the date of my last post - May 2009. Hey that doesn't seem too long..

That's easy to catch up on.

So how have I been? Not too bad..
Happy? I say, no complains :)

It has always been a style of mine to update recent happenings even when I blog less. I used to squeeze all the events in a month in a single post, making it a post of the month. So I figured, why not a post of the year? Haha - 1 that encompasses all the events that took place on the 2nd half of 2009, the entire of 2010, and the first half of 2011 - yep, this IS a pretty pointless entry (but a good one to make me start blogging again, get the hang of it, and show you what I've been up to - chehh wahh.. like very happening like that *giggles*).

Here goes,
  • Went for a fabulous pangkor trip with the insoms. Will never forget how it feels like riding on a bike over the hills and valleys just to reach the town for food! Nevertheless, a fun trip.
  • Some old bastards took over the company, turned it upside down, made us his slaves - working through the night for pitches the entire world knew would not even take place.
  • I learnt how to swim, but no-no to floating - which means I'll probably drown unless I keep swimming WTF!
  • Back to Taiwan with Mom and bro after SO MANY years - for my cousin's wedding (no idea who he was until now). It was winter then, and I absolutely love the weather. Shall blog more about this when I have some free time to spare :)
  • Left the company for another shit hole - I don't even wanna talk about it - maybe except for the fact that the boss of that company is a blardy good gambler who conned us into playing mahjong - WHICH indirectly took back all the 'angpow money' he gave us. Damn the old fox!
  • Broke my personal record for resigning on the 2nd month. Moved on to another place (yeah, AGAIN) - This new place is heaven! (okay, I exaggerated.. but no complains really.. up till now... well, maybe abit.. but that doesn't count).
  • Millfross is back to Melbourne - *sigh.. my Starbucks kaki gone!
  • My favourite aunt passed away. May she rest in peace. Namo amidabbha.
  • Yunko went to Beijing for a greener pasture - there goes another of my Starbucks kaki
  • I got teased using an OLD un-smart dinosaur era phone. iPhone 4 comes to picture. You can imagine the rest..
  • I started reading again. Very much over Haruki Murakami's at the moment - thanks to Drew, who introduces me to 'Norwegian wood'
  • Took part and joined PT Foundation as their volunteer - ppl, please practice safe sex! More about this when I have the time to do so. We will be needing your help and support ^^
  • .. and lately, someone told me.. I'm soon a godfather (kai-yeh) to a child hahaha. Congratulations to my best friend, Bliss.
So yeap, that's it.. 1.5 years in 13 bullet points. Neat-huh? I have good memories wakakaka.. If you stumble upon this blog of mine again, do leave a comment and do share with me, what's up with you :D
